Safety Studies - Process Safety , Powder Safety

At CRAMSN Research Park, we are committed to developing risk-free, safety-assured, and sustainable processes that align with the highest standards of Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). Our systematic and robust approach ensures comprehensive risk assessment and safety studies, enabling the development of safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible processes from early research to large-scale manufacturing.

We proactively evaluate alternative process options to enhance safety and sustainability, minimizing potential hazards at every stage, including the safe handling of powders and high-potency compounds. Our specialized process and powder safety assessment studies are conducted prior to manufacturing, regardless of the molecule’s development phase, ensuring that all processes meet regulatory, safety, and operational excellence standards.

Safety Assessment using Literature and Database

  • Hazard Identification: We review synthetic schemes to identify potential hazards, including reactive functionalities and gaseous by-products.

  • Safety Assessment: Reagents, solvents, and reaction parameters (temperature, pressure) are evaluated using safety data sources such as MSDS and Bretherick’s Handbook to ensure safe process execution.

Safety Assessment : Screening Tests and Instruments

Basic safety screening tests which include :

  • Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) for reaction masses, organic layers, mixtures, intermediates, etc.

  • Thermal Screening Unit (TSU) studies

  • Reaction Calorimetry (RC1mx)

  • Accelerating Rate Calorimetry (ARC)

Powder safety studies which include :

  • Minimum ignition energy (MIE)

  • Bulk powder resistivity test

  • BAM Fall Hammer test

  • Burning behavior

  • Dust explosion
